Live Music Awareness has recently taken on a new project – Abe Lagrimas, Jr.’s “Studio 909 Jam Sessions.” About once a month, Abe presents a jazz combo with some of Hawaii’s top professional jazz musicians, and also invites young up-and-coming jazz artists to jam with the pros.
The audiences for these jam sessions are large and enthusiastic, but as with most small entrepreneurial musical events, it is very hard to bring in enough money at the door to cover the costs of production and adequately pay the musicians.
Addressing situations like this is exactly why Live Music Awareness was founded, to help fledgling freelance artists gain access to charitable funding, thereby becoming more financially stable and developing their business skills in the process. The goal is not just to fund a few isolated events, but to help musicians gain the knowledge and skills that will allow them to create a solid foundation upon which to advance their careers well into the future.
LMA welcomes inquiries from more talented artists like Abe who see the benefits of teaming up with LMA.
